Tuesday’s Children

Supporting Families Impacted by Trauma and Loss

Tuesday’s Children provides a lifetime of healing for families forever changed by trauma and loss. They provide healing and resilience for military families of the fallen and families affected by 9/11, turning pain into purpose while honoring their legacies. Tuesday’s Children meets individuals and families of service members where they are on their grief journey following a traumatic loss.

The non-profit was formed in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, and they provide long-term assistance to families who lost loved ones on that tragic day, including children who lost parents, spouses, and other family members. Over the years, Tuesday’s Children has expanded its mission to serve individuals affected by mass tragedies, including military families, first responders, and global communities impacted by terrorism, war, and violence.

Tuesday’s Children provides counselling and support, youth mentorship and family engagement programs, career guidance, as well as mental health and wellness programs such as the renowned Creative Insight program based on the distinguished Creativity in Business course at Stanford University that inspires and empowers participants to create a life they love.

Their Project Common Bond has united over 1000+ teenagers and young adults from 35 countries who have lost a loved one due to terrorism and mass violence of war. Participants learn about peacebuilding and conflict resolution while forming lifelong bonds with their peers and engaging in activities that emphasize dignity for all.

Building Resilience and Community

The organization provides a range of services focused on resilience-building, including:

=

Youth Mentoring and Leadership:

Draw, write, paint, or collage your vision of what peace looks like. Whether it’s abstract or simple, the act of thinking about peace is what’s important.

=

Mental Health and Wellness:

Support services, counseling, and resources to help families manage trauma, grief, and long-term emotional health.

=

Career Guidance and Education Support:

Resources to help children and families affected by tragedy achieve educational and career success.

=

Community Building and Resilience Programs:

Initiatives that bring families together for shared experiences, support, and healing through peer networks.

Through these programs, Tuesday’s Children seeks to foster resilience, personal growth, and a sense of community among those who have experienced trauma, helping them rebuild their lives and move forward with strength and purpose.

Whitney Vauvelle’s Connection

Whitney discovered Tuesday’s Children after learning that the Creative Insight Journey course was taught to the families of the victims of 9/11 and that those who participated were able to catapult back to life much quicker than those who did not. Once she learned more about the extent and longevity of their unique programs, she felt compelled to invest in a more in-depth interview with Sallie Lynch. Sallie is no longer on staff with Tuesday’s Children but remains connected as an advisor.

Whitney knows several people who lost family members in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Ironically, they both worked with her when she was leading a music software production company called The Music Producer.
